Wendell Phillips
Wendell Phillips (1811–1884) was a preeminent orator in the anti-slavery movement. As a Boston lawyer, Phillips became acquainted with William Lloyd Garrison in the 1830s. In 1837, Phillips delivered his first anti-slavery oration after the mob murder of abolitionist Elijah Lovejoy.
