Gilbert Tennent (1703–1764) was a Presbyterian revivalist and son of the preacher William Tennent Sr. Gilbert immigrated to North America from Ireland with his parents in 1718. He was educated at his father’s Log College. Tennent experienced a religious conversion in 1723 and began a successful career as a popular revivalist preacher, serving primarily in New Jersey.
