Henry Ford (1863–1947) was the American inventor and automobile manufacturer who founded the Ford Motor Company and developed the mass-production assembly-line system. Born in Dearborn, Michigan, Ford worked in various machine and mechanical shops as a young man. During the 1890s, Ford created his first “horseless carriage” and began selling his vehicle designs.
