 f Art) and Matthew Pinsker (Dickinson College) wil
 l explore selected issues from the Civil War era t
 hrough the lens of American art. Topics will inclu
 de slavery\, emancipation and race\, the human cos
 ts of war\, Abraham Lincoln and wartime politics\,
  and recurring battles over the war&rsquo\;s legac
 y.&nbsp\; Visual media will include nineteenth-cen
 tury painting\, photography\, popular prints (incl
 uding caricature)\, post-war sculpture\, and moder
 n film.&nbsp\; Participants will benefit from dail
 y exposure to the immense resources of The Metropo
 litan Museum of Art and from the expertise of the 
 museum&rsquo\;s curators and educational staff.&nb
 sp\; The week will feature special engagement with
  the museum&rsquo\;s American Wing as well as two 
 notable special exhibitions:&nbsp\; &ldquo\;The Ci
 vil War and American Art&rdquo\; and &ldquo\;Photo
 graphy and the American Civil War.&rdquo\;\n \n 	&
 nbsp\;\n \n 	\n 		Readings\n 	\n 		Readings are se
