 illiams College\n 	\n 		Overview\n 	\n 		The Ameri
 can Revolution remains one of the most consequenti
 al events in world history. Yet agreement about it
 s main causes\, significance\, and purpose remains
  as distant as ever. We will explore the American 
 Revolution and its consequence by following the st
 ory of the individuals who made the American Revol
 ution happen and who were profoundly affected by i
 ts results. Lectures and readings will trace the c
 ourse of the American Revolution and pay particula
 r attention to the role and experiences of leading
  statesmen\, of average citizens\, of women\, of f
 ree and enslaved African Americans\, of Native Ame
 ricans\, and of peoples living outside North Ameri
 ca but nonetheless influenced by the Revolution.\n

 e University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. For

 a International Airport is located approximately t
 wenty minutes from the University of Pennsylvania.
  There are several&nbsp\;options for transportatio
 n&nbsp\;from the airport to the university.\n 		\n
  			Workshop participants will be housed at an on-
 campus dormitory. Participants will have single be
 drooms\, but share bathrooms and common space. Dor
 mitories are air-conditioned. Wireless Internet se
 rvice is provided\; several computer clusters and 
 lounges are available in the complex. Some partici
 pants choose to bring laptops. Participants will b
 e provided with a temporary wireless access codes.
 \n 		\n 			The university provides pillows\, blank
 ets\, sheets\, and towels only. Please note that p
 articipants should plan to bring alarm clocks\, ha
 ngers\, irons\, hair dryers\, and shower shoes.\n 
 	\n 	\n 		\n 			Meals\n 		\n 			Meals will be serv
 ed in a university cafeteria in space shared by ot
 her programs. All on-campus meals will be paid for
  by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American Histo
 ry.\n 	\n 	\n 		\n 			Travel Reimbursement\n 		\n 
 			Each summer seminar participant will receive re
 imbursement of travel expenses up to $400.&nbsp\;P
 articipants are responsible for making their own t
 ravel arrangements to and from the seminar.\n 		\n
  			Participants traveling internationally or from
  Alaska and Hawaii receive a $500 stipend in lieu 
 of reimbursement upon completion of the seminar.\n
  		\n 			Applicants to seminars should note that s
 upplements will not be given in cases where the $4
 00 allowance is insufficient to cover all travel e
