CHARLES WALBRIDGE, a soldier from Buffalo, New
York, served as Quartermaster General for General Seymour
throughout the South. Although Walbridge never saw battle,
his letters are interesting and articulate reflections
on the conflict. After the war, Walbridge relocated to
Charleston, North Carolina, where he embarked on a series
