Stuart informs Lee of the results of a parry by Colonel Martin intended to disclose the line of the Union retreat after the Battle of Malvern Hill. Tells him the direction of Union movement and recommends the route Lee should take. After being repulsed a day earlier at Malvern Hill, the Confederate forces are still pursuing the Union forces as they try to retreat from the Peninsula, though not nearly as vigorously as before.
