Writes to his sister about a temporary cease fire. Discusses Mexican General Ampadia's proclamation to take Matamoros and General Taylor's polite letter that he and the Americans intend to stay. Mentions the citizens' fear that Matamoros will be destroyed and the government's inability to pay for reconstruction.
