Informs Grant, second-in-command, Department of the Mississippi, to pay particular attention to the remarks of Colonel Richards, commander of a detachment from the 1st Division of the reserves (Richards has written notes in pencil on the newspaper's margin). Discusses Richards's notes, which pertain to Confederate camp location. One bust engraving of McClernand included as collateral.
