Colonel Regis de Trobriand, Commanding 38th New York Volunteers, writes from his camp near Belleplaine, Virginia, to New York Adjutant General John Titcomb Sprague (1810-1878). He requests that New York Governor Horatio Seymour confirm his appointment of 1st Lieutenant John Mac'E. Hyde as his new adjutant general. One bust engraving of Trobriand included as collateral.
