Brigadier General Griffin writes to Sprague, Governor of Rhode Island. Recommends W. W. Buckley (possibly William W. Buckley), of the Rhode Island Artillery, to Sprague's favorable notice for promotion. Remarks that Buckley has served as 1st Lieutenant of a battery for 14 months, and "has passed through several engagements with great credit to himself & state and has earned his promotion by his gallant conduct on the battlefield."
