Records the weather. On March 12th, he mentions the city elections. April 24th, acknowledges how sad it is that so many young men are going to war and he hopes they return safely. Mentions church and bible class frequently. On July 22nd, he notes bad news from the battle of Manassas Junction. Reports say between 3,000 and 15,000 were killed.
