Writes to his parents about the different letters that he has received. Tells them, "I have destroyed all my old letters - burned them up. I had so many that they were in the way. I shall burn all that receive hereafter, as soon as I answer them." He also reports that his brother Theodore was given a sword and revolver to look after by a Lieutenant. Theodore lost the sword and now is expected to pay for it. Describes his visit with a doctor. "The doctor gave me the same kind of medicine that he gave me for the dysentery at Sharpsburgh, - perhaps he leaves it to the imagination, to effect a cure." Written in graphite.

- The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
