Writes to his father that he and his brother James are in good health and spirits. Reports that they will both be shipped to the Penisula in less than a week. Describes the photograph that he had taken in case he is hurt in battle. "I think we will move soon, and maby, go into a fight, so I thought I would have my picture taken for I might get hit in the next fight and I would let you see a little what I looked like..." Tells his father that he must cut the letter short becuase he has to go to church. Written at the Culpeper Court House.
