Dating based on uniform (Federal-style dated to 4/1861 per Lord & Wise). Bonham holds a hat with non-standard insigna (Palmetto?). Bonham served in the Confederate Congress from 1862-1863 and then served as governor of SC from 1863. Ink inscription on mount: "Milledge L. Bonham, S.C." Portrait shows some white insect damage.
