Writes to his father that he arrived safely back at camp yesterday having left Columbia Thursday (possibly on furlough). Reports that he was able to bring his trunk and is glad because rations have been irregular. He did not have to buy food during the trip because he had enough in his haversack. His friends are all doing well. Mentions that he visited George Mackay and Fraser Miller. States that he arrived just in time to help the Regiment and Brigade move camp into the woods. Gives love to all family members and states Ben Martin is leaving for home today. Charles J. Hutson was a Corporal, 1st South Carolina Infantry, during the Civil War.
