Young, referring to James Clark McGrew, states "a large number of the Republicans of our District, are determined not to support McGrew for Congress, & ... will remain independent ... " Hopes that Koonce will endorse an independent candidate, and wishes to inform Koonce of the platform and candidates local Republicans support. States "Many of the Republicans think it is time to check mate McGrew's family, benefactions & favoritism." Informs Koonce he will be visiting Republicans at Martinsburg, New Creek, and other locations in West Virginia.
