SC governor to Confederate Secretary of War Judah Benjamin, re raising and arming ten new companies under Colonel Orr to defend the coast against invasion. "We are now in daily expectation of being attacked on gulf coast & I earnestly beg that you will order me the first five thousand arms you can command, as I have cheerfully armed all our men heretofore sent out of the state."
