Virginia Williams' husband, Booker Kent, writes to Cordelia Williams saying that it is his privilege to be able to write to her for the first time. He is impressed how she shaped the life of someone who is important to him, Virginia. He is also impressed by her entire family and friends. He is sending the verse that the minister said at LeRoi's funeral along with one other; neither are enclosed in this letter. He and Virginia are getting along well with their daily life but she does not like her daily commute to school, especially when the weather is bad. He gives his best regards to Cordelia's family and friends and says "keep your chin up." He signs off "I am your grateful son Booker."
