Summary of Content: General Imboden writes from Headquarters of the Valley District. Imboden’s friend, [Aylette?] B. Coleman of Nelson County, Virginia, was a volunteer aid on his staff, ”but the promulgation of an order prohibiting men liable under the Conscript Act from holding that position deprived him of it.” Requests that Smith, Governor of Virginia, appoint Coleman as an officer to a battalion which is to be organized for guard duty. Docket notes that this recommendation was received 22 March 1864.
