The large group slows you down and you’re captured.
Historical context: Young men traveling
alone had the best chances for escape, because they
were not slowed down by the needs of a larger group,
especially the needs of young children. In addition,
single people were less likely to be missed. Bringing
others along could also spell disaster if one of
them were captured and divulged your escape route.
