Lesson Plan 1: High School



This lesson will fulfill the following NCHS National History Standards:

Era 4, Expansion and Reform (1801-1861) -- Standard 2: How the industrial revolution, increasing immigration, the rapid expansion of slavery, and the westward movement changed the lives of Americans and led toward regional tensions; and Standard 4: The source and character of cultural, religious, and social reform movements in the antebellum period.


Lesson Plan 2: High School



This lesson will fulfill the following NCHS National History Standards:

Era 4, Standard 2 (see above), and Era 5: Civil War and Reconstruction-- Standard 1A: Explain the causes of the Civil War and evaluate the importance of slavery as a principal cause of the conflict.


Lesson Plan 3: Middle School



This lesson will fulfill the following NCHS NCHS National History Standards:
