Hamilton Education Program

The Gilder Lehrman Institute is proud to partner with the producers of Hamilton on the Hamilton Education Program. Title I–eligible high schools are being invited to integrate Alexander Hamilton and the Founding Era into classroom studies and then see the musical. The Hamilton Education Program is part of the Gilder Lehrman Institute’s broader mission to improve the teaching and learning of American history. Thanks to the generous support of The Rockefeller Foundation, which helped launch the initial program and fund its national expansion, and many national and local donors, high school students in Title I schools in New York City will each pay just a “Hamilton” ($10) to see the performance.

The Hamilton Education Program is an in-person program for Title I–eligible high schools. The program will resume in New York City in 2022. The curriculum and resources are available through our new EduHam Online program for free to 6th–12th grade teachers and families. Sign up here.

The Institute has more than twenty years of experience developing educational programming in American history. In addition, the Gilder Lehrman Collection is a unique archive of 70,000 primary source documents, including a love letter from Alexander Hamilton to his fiancée, Elizabeth Schuyler; a first edition of the Federalist; and the only known extant letter from Philip Hamilton to his father, Alexander.
