TEMPERATURE AND
CLOTHING
In July the temperatures range from the high 50’s
in the evening to mid to high 80s during the day. Since
it is difficult to predict the weather, pack articles
that may be layered to accommodate a range of temperatures.
Dress is casual during the day. We ask that you bring
walking shoes, a water bottle, and a hat or other head
covering for the battlefield and walking tours.
We tour rain or shine. Please be prepared with an umbrella,
slicker or poncho in the event of rain. Also, we strongly
suggest you bring insect repellent and sunscreen.
GRADUATE CREDIT
Pittsburg

credit to workshop participants at a tuition fee
of $199 per credit hour. Participants can receive three
graduate credit hours for the duration of the week.

ACADEMIC RESOURCES
The Gilder Lehrman Institute will arrange for computer
access and printer services to be available to participants
during the week. Throughout the workshop participants
will have access to campus computer labs and equipment
for Internet research, word processing, and printing.
If you bring your own computer, there is no guarantee
that it will work with the network jacks in your dorm
rooms. In order for your PC to work on our network,
you must have a network card already installed in your
computer and make sure that your network settings are
set to get an ICP address by DHCP. Wireless computer
service is available on campus. We will also have computer
labs available to our participants. Temporary usernames
and passwords will be issued for the duration of your
stay.
STIPEND
Participating teachers will receive a stipend of $400
to help cover travel expenses. All participants should
arrive on Sunday before the start of each workshop and
attend all workshop sessions (through Saturday morning)
to receive full stipends. Participants who do not complete
the entire seminar will receive a reduced stipend. We
will present stipend checks to participants prior to
departure on Saturday. Stipends are taxable. Reporting
