Veterans Legacy Program Workshop with Cypress Hills National Cemetery, November 14

In partnership with the National Cemetery Administration's Veterans Legacy Program, we are pleased to offer a free digital professional development session on The Soldier's Experience in American History.

This session, which will be held on Zoom on Saturday, November 14 at 3:00 P.M. ET, will include a lecture by Professor Lisa Andersen, Assistant Professor of Liberal Arts and History at the Juilliard School; a virtual tour and Q&A with the cemetery directors at Cypress Hills National Cemetery in Queens, NY; and a pedagogy session on "The Soldier's Experience: Letters from Four American Wars" led by Nathan McAlister, 2010 National History Teacher of the Year, and Gena Oppenheim, Hamilton Education Program Senior Education Fellow. 

Participants in the workshop will receive a certificate of attendance equivalent to three hours of professional development credit, along with classroom-ready educational materials for teaching The Soldier's Experience in American History. Please note that the Gilder Lehrman Institute is an approved professional development provider in Massachusetts (sponsor #2016F0016) and an approved Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) provider in New York State (sponsor #3406).
