"Northern Mind," a short editorial, decries Lincoln's [preliminary] Emancipation Proclamation. "Secular News" includes reports that Union forces have taken Galveston, Texas, President Davis's promotions of General J. Johnston and others, and raids by John Hunt Morgan and his men.
