Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Report on funds needed by the Quartermaster for expenses including feed, forage, straw, stationery and hire of laborer. The required funds total $100,500.00. Written, prepared and signed by Baxter. Also signed by Grant, as Brigadier General, approving the estimate.

A. S. Baxter was an Assistant Quartermaster in the US Volunteers Quartermaster's Department.
