Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Co-signed by Rishworth Jordan, Thomas Cutts, and Tristram Jordan. Witnessed by Sullivan and Elisha Allen. States that Tristram Jordan, Cutts, and Rishworth Jordan are bound to Henry Gardner Esq. (treasurer of the state of Massachusetts) for the amount of five hundred pounds. However, the bond will be void if Tristram Jordan "well and truly executes the office of a naval officer for the District of Peperrelborough" to which he is appointed.

Sullivan was elected to the Continental Congress in 1782 and 1783, but did not attend.
