Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Informs the members of Oliver Titcomb's regiment that, while staying in Gerrish's regiment's barracks they caused six pounds sixteen schillings damage, and General Heath has ordered him to remove this money from their pay. Addressed to "Gentleman Soldiers," all the men belonging to Titcomb's regiment.

Jacob Gerrish was a colonel in the Massachusetts Militia.
