Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Docketed 19 March 1779 by David Lyman. Lyman states that Captain [Hampten?] is to pay John Lyman $50, and to charge the sum to David Lyman. Contains several other dockets, notes, and mathematical figures on verso.

Moses Creek was an American cantonment site occupied during the Saratoga Campaign located on the east side of the Hudson River, roughly five miles south of Fort Edward.
