Informs Weiss, the deputy quartermaster general, of the orders he received from George Washington to ready the Pennsylvania troops to march and asks Weiss to supply them with tents and others necessary stores. Indicates where Weiss can obtain some tents and canteens. Written from "Camp."
Camp May 26th 1779
Sir
The General [inserted in contemporary hand: Washington] has given me orders to put the Pennsylvania Troops in a condition to march as soon as possible. You will therefore deal out to them near or quite their full proportion of Tents and all other kind of Stores without regarding the deficiency as the State of the Stores now stand.
There is forty or fifty Hors[em]ans tents now on the[strikeout: ir] way from Philadelphia and a considerable number of Canteens, out of which the deficiencies for the other troops may be made up
The Stores for the Pennsylvania brigades must be drawn and delivered [2] out this Evening-
