Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Benjamin Russell listed as the printer and publisher, located on State Street. Discusses an act to amend the act establishing the United States Mint. Amendment enacted by the United States Congress on Monday November 5, 1792 and approved by the President on January 14, 1793. Lists Jonathan Trumbull as Speaker of the House of Representatives, John Adams as Vice-President of the United States and President of the Senate, George Washington as President of the United States, and Thomas Jefferson as Secretary of State.
