Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Indicates that they received Knox's payment. In regard to the Boston Port Bill, they write that they "are extremely sorry for the Situation of our Friends at Boston, and heartily wish that every Difference was so far settled, as that a mutual good will and affection might ever subsist between Brittain and her Colonies." Thanks Knox for making Wright & Gill his exclusive stationary supplier. Wright & Gill was a London stationary company operated by Thomas Wright and William Gill.
