Gives a military report provided by Thomas Mayfield. Describes ship activities in Boston Harbor, mentioning workers and loading occurring at "the Castle," in reference to the military garrison on Castle Island in the harbor. Written in Dorchester, a neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts.

I send you The Report of Thomas Mayfield who went onto the hill to make Discoveries, a little before 10 oClock a Small Schooner Saild from Boston, at 10 oClock a Ship Saild from Boston. at half after 10 oClock a two mast boat Sailed from Boston with four Swivels on board they had a prospect Glass and semed [sic] to be a Serving Round the point, a Number of boats passed from boston to the Castle and they Semed to be Loaded. there was a Number of men on the Castle at work they appeared to be a Repairing a piece of Breast work on the East part of the Castle I am Sir yr Humble
