[draft]
Boston Septer 18th 1777 -
My Dear Harry -
The situation of the Army at this time renders it unsafe to unbosom myself by letter; lest it should fall into wrong hands - therfore shall only inform you, that your wife and Daughter are both alive - and in tolerable good health -
I omited writing [struck: by] until this morning in hopes to have received something from you by the post - but to my great disapointment - I had not a line - I rec.d a few words by I know not who on Monday last which informed me you were well on the first of this month - but alass where and how you are now - I cannot tell, my anxiety is not to be expressed by words oh my Harry - will you not send for me to save me so much pain -
I would write more had I time but you have no reason to complain as in the last fortnight I have forwarded six or seven letters - may he without whose permission not a sparrow falls, preserve you - Adieu my Love -
