It is true that these poor unhappy fellows have merited the sentence under which they labour, still I am led from motives of humanity & consideration of their sufferings under so long a confinement, to ask the favor of you to interceed with the Commander in Chief...in addressing the General on this Subject you will serve two miserable wretches who have for a long time been lingering under the painful apprehension of a Halter....
