Informs General Washington that 250 men of the 3rd Massachusetts will not be ready to march until the afternoon due to lack of essential articles for their march. Reports that the regiment is without their compliment of field officers and Colonels Michael Jackson and Rose have never joined at the post. Also reports that Lieutenant Colonel Maxwell and Major Pettingal are unwell.

The remainder of the 3d massachusets regiment amounting to about 250 cannot be in readiness to march untill the afternoon. [struck: They would] [inserted: Being] part of the late 8th [struck: and] they were to be organized and were distitute of essential articles for their march. [strike-out] Capt Cogswell will command them The troops who have marched [strikeout] have not their [struck: full] compliment of [inserted: field] officers Colonel Michael Jackson & Colonel Rose have never joined at this post - Lt Colonel Maxwell and Major Pettingal were unwell [struck: at this place].
