Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Signed by Edward Blake, a quartermaster for the artillery, and countersigned by Major Samuel Shaw, Henry Knox's aide-de-camp. Provision return for one man discharged from the Massachusetts Artillery from 25-31 August. A total of 7 rations were issued over the 7 days. Docket signed by a Jacob Copeland an F. Brandy stating that the rations were received.
