Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Signed by Lieutenant Wright and Captain Lillie as an aide-de-camp to General Henry Knox. Provision return for four men in Lieutenant Wright's company employed by the ordinance department from 1-10 September. The return also includes rations issued to three women. The seven people were issued a total of 90 rations over the ten days. Docket signed by a William Burrows stating the rations were received.
