Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Requests a meeting with Parker to arrange "for the future Supply of the Posts. I am now to request that you will cause the Issues of Provisions to be made until further Order and that you will come on hither that I may adjust the Means of future Supply with you or if you decline it with some other Person."
