Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Discusses the disbandment of Colonel [Marinus] Willett's regiment saying it will likely take place immediately. Orders Jefferds and his troops to move to Fort Schuyler where a number of stores have been collected in preparation of taking command of the western lakes. Discusses the amount of provisions needed at Fort Schuyler for Jefferds party. Provides further instructions if the number of provisions at Fort Schuyler is insufficient.
