Discusses the "detention of the two Companies at Castle Island ... " and forwards an "application I made to the Bank for the Loan of 500 dollars but they refused leting [sic] me have any - " (GLC02437.03567). States that the loan was for payment of the troops, who will remain at Castle Island until they are paid. Writes, "You must support me in some way or other." my dear Harry
I recd. yours this eveng by the post. I wrote you fully by the two last post respecting the detention of the two Companies at Castle Island- the Inclosed is the application I made to the Bank for the Loan of 500 dollars but they refused letting [sic] me have any- and I know not where to procure one farthing for that purpose & the troops must remain here until I can obtain money to pay them & some [struck: money] for the Officers- I assure you I am in a very [disappointed] Situation respecting the Contracts I have made- you must support me in some way or other-
