Informs Smith that a friend from France wishes his nephew to study at Princeton College. Wonders if the youth could study for a year or two, focusing on English language and mathematics. Asks the cost of tuition for such a course of study, as well as for room and board.

Samuel Stanhope Smith was a Presbyterian minister and the controversial seventh president of Princeton University (then called the College of New Jersey).
