Writes to her husband, who is in Boston. Misses their daughter (likely Lucy). Relates news of the Ogden family. Notes that Mrs. Green (possibly Catharine Littlefield Greene) hopes Knox will visit her on his return to New York. Remarks, "Our little ones have not the measles yet, altho it is all around us."

My dearest friend
Is not our long long absence drawing to a close, or are we to revive old times, - for my part had I looked so far forward at the time we parted, I believe my resolution would have failed - at least as respected my daughter - for (be not offended at the assertion) I want as much to see her as yourself - this however is not saying she is equally dear to me. but that she is [helpless] and wants her mothers care. I am distressed at the plea of her fatiguing ride and pray you to make much of her -
Mr Mrs Ogden and their two sons are here, he with [David] [struck: are] [inserted: is] to [inserted: go] home in about one week, and to return for Mrs Ogden next month -
I have a letter from Mrs Green. She expresses a wish to see you on your return - and I hope you will not forget her -
