Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Lucy Knox arrived in New York and now has the chance to write her daughter Lucy who is staying in Boston with the Brecks. The mother Lucy writes about fashion and advises her daughter Lucy how to behave. She reminds her daughter to attend to her studies and make them a priority.
