Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Tells Randall that he received $2,000 in bank post notes this day. These notes were the proceeds of William Duer's note of 6 June. Will wait on information on Duer's note of $3,000. Randall was of the house of Randall and Shaw -- the Shaw being Knox's former aide-de-camp.
