Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Asks him to send a paperwork for them to sign (regarding an arrangement to settle on Knox's Waldo patent lands), including a translation of the legal documents, as he is "not at all acquainted with your forms of Law." Declares that Mr. Duer will be traveling to Philadelphia and will sign the paperwork soon. Adds that Madame de Leval sends her compliments to him and his wife.
