Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Responds to an earlier letter he received from Green regarding advancement of payments. Notes the sum of $35,000 that Green has proposed is short than the $39,000 that Knox originally requested. Asks Green to further review the proposition. Continues to discuss land deals and his situation with William Duer.
