At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Lists the salaries of the members of the War Department for the months of July, August and September. Dated 1 October at the War Office. Verso dated 2 October and lists the names of the members and their signatures, indicating that they have received the proper amount of pay for those months.
