Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Encloses a sketch of what he believes are the duties of the new officer. Also included what the new officer's pay and allowances should be with the sketch. Discusses the public property and military stores the new officer is to be in charge of, as well as which commanding officers are to report to him.
